Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fully volcanic beach made by smooth lava pyroclasts. The view is amazing just sparating the ocean from the salinas de Janubio. Strong wind and great waves. No sand and only lava and rocks not easy to have a swim.

It’s a very rocky beach with small black rocks and sand. Walked to beach and wanted to walk along it. You literally sink into sand about 6inches to a foot. It tried to balance myself and pulled my foot out and then lost my shoe. Hang to dig below inches of rock to finally find it. Too dangerous and definitely it enjoyable. I do not recommend a side from looking or from afar.

This beach is very beautiful. It may not be ideal for swimming because of the wind and rocks but it is perfect for taking pictures. It was very interesting for me as I had never been to a black beach before. It is very different than sand. It does not stick to your body. It also does not hurt. I think everyone should have this experience of going to a black sand beach if you are on Lanzarote and this beach is good for this because it is near Los Hervideros, El Golfo.

Playa del Janubio is a beach located next to the homonymous salt lake. It is located near Yaiza, a little town in Lanzarote. It is a sand beach, where you can bath or sunbath, walk on the sand or only relax. Also, you can see the salt lake, where the salt is extracted and purified to buy. It is nice, not more. Better the guided visit in the salt lake.

Thursday 13th January and we visited the sights and attractions of Janubio including La Salinas and Mirador Costa del Janubio and the beach, Playa.

The black sand, gravel and stoney beach stretches 800 metres along the southwest coast of the island.

It has the North Atlantic Ocean on one side and Laguna de Janubio and La Salinas on the other. The beach is visible from the salt flats.

Due to it's remoteness it is not a very touristy, there are no facilities here and no sunbeds or umbrellas. There are no shops or restaurants nearby, visitors need to bring all supplies and beach gear if planning to spend some time here.

There are strong currents here and the sea can be rough with high waves.

This has become more popular in the last 15 years, but note, you will find folks here who prefer to sunbathe in the nude :) The waves here can be very very powerful, and the undertow very dangerous, so most people either just sunbathe, or wander along the beach looking for fragments of peridot, or play in the very edges of the surf as it runs up the beach (it can still knock you off your feet). It is possible to go swimming here when it's utterly calm, but you do have to be aware of the sea conditions.
There are no amenities whatsoever.
One of my favourite beaches on Lanzarote.

If you want an authentic beach in Lanzarote, then this is it. Black sand lay before the raw Atlantic sea that constantly looks angry and dangerous. It’s hard to get to, this very few people.
You will need to take all food and water with you as there is nothing there.

Very commercial and ordinary, nothing we haven’t seen in so very many other places.
The Mirador always appears to be closed.

an interesting stop off on an island tour, seeing how the salt pans work, would have been nicer if the old windmills were still in operation as well
