Thursday 13th January and we were travelling from Salinas de Jaubio to El Golfo on LZ - 703. Along the way we visited this rather remote beach on southwest coast of the island.

We parked up at the parking area at the side of the road.

It is a picturesque area with the most striking feature being Montaña Bermeja. The red coloured mountain stands at 160 metres and dominates the skyline. The beach sits at the foot of the mountain.

The beach with it's black volcanic sand and gravel stretches for 455 metres along the coast and is 70 metres at it's widest point. It is surrounded by rocks and a rugged coastline

Towards the back of the beach was a lagoon, fed by the sea at high tide.

There are signs on the beach advising visitors no to swim in the sea as it is dangerous due to strong waves. Despite the warnings, when we visited, people were in the sea.

Definitely worth a quick visit for the scenery, not a beach to spend a day at.

Finally made it to this wonderful attraction. It's amazing to see the volcano is still smouldering and it's interesting to see the attendants putting on the "Dragon Show" The tour was the best part as the roads are just wide enough for the bus and at times The drop is hundreds of feet down with no safety barriers. The best part was the superb skills of the bus driver as he guided us around the volcano ,into the heart and around the perimiters. Would definitely recommend it sorry it took me so long.

This beach is certainly worth a visit. See the red mountain cliffs meet the blue sea.

There is quite a bit of rubbish on the beach and there is a lot of noise from passing traffic. Signs advise against getting in the water as the currents are too strong.

It’s worth getting out and taking some photos but not much else.
