This is a great location for SUP. There is a lovely, clean beach, a marina and once you are out on the water you get brilliant views back towards Porto. The equipment was good and our instructor was enthusiastic and friendly. This is a really good way to experience the river close up! It took us about 10 mins to get here in a taxi from the centre of Porto.

We booked a SUP/kayak course for 9 people. All beginners, one of us fell into the water when he was doing SUP and when falling he lost his paddle. The paddle sank. They never told us that we should always keep your paddle which is quite hard for a beginner in the wave. Finally and even if they didn't make us sign something prior to the class they charged us 50€ for a paddle which is worth 40€ today in the Decathlon website. The monitors were awesome but the boss is clearly not someone who want to do business with..

I just spent a week in Porto where I tried out surf-skis for the first time. Douro Academy offers different activities but I only went with the surf ski lessons. I had an absolutely fantastic time. The instructors were very friendly, flexible and I must quite tolerant as I had a few falls and had to crawl back on the surf-ski a few times. The instructors are very skilled and would vary the lesson depending upon my ability, the wind, weather and just generally how busy it was. I strongly recommend Douro Academy as a place for surf-ski lessons and likely for the other sports they offer.
