Wrong in many ways

Do yourself a favour and do not spend your time here. Horrible service, the menu is not even remotely updated and the prices are overinflated. Plus, they charge you more than they the prices on the menu on a tonic gin "to account for the tonic water"!
They should be out of business before you get to read this comment.

Great Place for a Gin and Tonic, cocktail or beers whilst you take in the river view.

As soon as you walk in, you can feel the warmth and welcome of the Landlord Francisco! This lovely man know his gins and tonics as well as his cocktails. His welcoming voice will explain the sights and the history of Porto and where to go to next. The first floor looks over the river and you can see the north side. A view you should relish as you sink into your chosen drink and the soft background music easing you into a relaxed state. You can tell I love it here, so if you visit the south side of the Douro you must visit this area and this bar!

A much needed drink after a long journey!

Having just arrived in Vila Nova de Gaia in glorious sunshine after a very long trip from Scotland and waiting to board my cruise vessel, the Irish & Co. bar situated next to the quay was the perfect place to stop for a break. This is quite a trendy area, so prices are highish but the view from the upper "deck" over the river are worth every escudo!

Was a lovely bar, very true to its Irish authenticity with the price of the drinks! By far some of the most expensive we experienced in Porto! Despite this the staff member we encountered was a lovely man, very chatty! One downfall, he asked his Irish customers were we English, very apologetic afterwards! Lovely bar would recommend for a drink along the river!

Great views

Having been recommended by a friend, we stopped for a drinks, enjoying the views across the river, good choice of cocktails, chance to smoke if you wish so, as partly enclosed the top section, with blankets provided, nice touch. We have returned on the next day for after dinner drinks to enjoy once more the gorgeous Porto by night

Service please?!

A great location, one of the more expensive bars but a lovely view so went in as a treat to start an anniversary evening. Unfortunately, having ordered 2 gin & tonics we then were left waiting for over 30 minutes then had to go and get it ourselves anyway - it is meant to be table service. Pretty poor show as there was only one other couple in there. It contained possibly the meanest amount of gin served in any g&t in the Porto area. Turned out they were having a staff meeting so couldn't be bothered to serve their customers. Shame. Will not be returning.

This place could be great. It's a good location and it's clean with nice furnishings. However, it is pretty expensive compared to other places in Porto/Gaia. We went to watch the six nations rugby match and there was no sound from the tv just REALLY loud tacky Irish music (trust me as I'm Irish). I asked could we turn it down and listen to the match and we were told it wasnt possible which was a pity as we were the only ones in the place (2pm). It ruined the atmosphere for the match so I wouldn't recommend it for sports fans. I can imagine it would be nice for cocktails at night time though!

Awesome bar, great location and wonderful service.
Irish and Co is not your typical Irish bar, it is warm, immaculately tidy and had a great atmosphere.
There is one bar down stairs with large screens for sport, another upstairs bar with an outdoor patio and a beautiful view of the Ribeira and the River Douro.
The prices were standard. Francisco the owner/ barman was super cool. A really interesting man with some great stories, his service was fantastic. Highly recommended.
