My grandsons have been studying WWII in history class. I hadn't visited since the new building opened. I'm very glad that we went the weekend of May 5th. The memorial is impressive, the 20 film very informative, and the exhibits illustrating the events in the life of General MacArthur extensive! My grandsons were thrilled to see the weaponry on display... More

The Memorial is in Norfolk's old City Hall and Courthouse. Admission is free (donations accepted). My wife and I are history nuts. The self guided tour took us 2 1/2 hours. Most people would take less time. The man was amazing (an egotist, but still amazing). You cover history from the Civil War to the present. I recommend this for... More

Whether you are a student of things military or not, and whether you're a MacArthur fan or not, this FREE museum is well worth a trip. On two floors (I understand there is an elevator-the stairs are steep), it covers MacA's career from his very early years as an Army brat on western outposts to his years as a senior... More

The memorial was really cool. I didn't know a lot about MacArthur but I learned a lot about him after going through this place. I highly recommend it!

I am not a war buff like my husband; however, this museum was so awesome! I learned so much about World War I and II. It had such beautiful artifacts and information that I never knew.

I wonder how many people know where General Douglas MacArthur is buried? Ask about the burial sites of Washington or Jefferson or Lincoln or Grant or FDR or JFK and you'll probably get a quick answer. But MacArthur? In Norfolk, VIrginia? Not Arlington National Cemetery or West Point?

I had an EXTREMELY limited amount of time to visit the MacArthur Memorial, but even so, I'm glad I was able to pop in. The museum is clean and neat, and it was cool to see MacArthur's car, motorcycle, and medals. I encourage you to stop by this free museum!

living in Norfolk MacArthur is important and many see him as crucial in the Pacific effort; however he is very controversial

This is an interesting place to visit. It is where General MacArthur and his wife are interred. There are 3 floors of exhibits covering mainly his life - from the beginnings through West Point, the wars, after the wars til his death. There is a lot of reading, but also many items. It is geared more towards adults. There is... More
