This was the best part of the Nauticus Museum. A great exhibit on the history of the navy in the area. I learned that Hampton roads was the name given to a large area of Virginia and included many small towns. Lots of information and very well presented.

This museum was very interesting tracing Navy history back to before the Civil War. I recommend visiting when you are at Nauticus.

A cold, windy day in Norfolk was perfect to spend indoors at the museum. A well done exhibit, very informative, giving the naval history of the area chronologically. Who knew? And it was free"

Three reasons to visit: (1) educational, (2) excellent displays, (3) free. If you are interested in US Navy history, especially local history here in Hampton Roads to include the epic battle between CSS Virginia and USS Monitor. This museum covers several timelines from the Rev War to the Cold War. A nice thread that runs throughout the museum is the... More

Beginning with tall ships and moving in time to iron clads to submarines to aircraft carriers, you can follow the timeline of naval warfare. Highlighting technology and conflicts this free museum includes artifacts, intricate models, maps, and volunteers excited to share with you their knowledge. This museum is located inside the Nauticus building. You do not have to purchase a... More

This is an interactive, informative museum focusing on the naval presence in the greater Norfolk area. There are interesting videos throughout. Who knew there was a world expo in Jamestown in 1907? The site of the expo then became a staging area for WWI seamen. Anyone interested in history, or the navy, will thoroughly enjoy this small, but well done... More

Very enjoyable visit. The museum is small but there is a great deal of information. There is information about the impact of the Navy in the Hampton area all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Great historical perspective. Museum overlooks the water and is within walking distance of the MacArthur Memorial.

The museum is located in the same building as Nauticus and the USS Wisconsin. When you enter the building, take the elevator to the 2nd floor to get to the museum; do not take the escalator as that leads to Nauticus. The museum is small but has many exhibits dedicated to naval history ranging from Revolutionary War times to modern... More

There were lots of things To learn and see. Lots of detail on the CSA naval ships and sub chasers of WWII. Nice presentation on colonial navy vessels. Only one regret was it coul have used a bit more on the WWI battleships but overall, it was very good.
