Have passed this for many years and decided it would be my final stop on my civil war battlefield extravaganza trip and it is worth the stop. Very thorough telling of a this little known, yet significant battle. I was simply interested in the battlefield...More

For those who are interested in Civil War history, this is a great stop. I recommend visiting the museum and viewing the film 'Field of Lost Shoes' before visiting the Bushong Farm and battlefield as it will allow for a better understanding of the grounds...More

We stopped along our way home to NC & toured the museum & battleground. It's a nice place to visit, reasonable admission & can do in a reasonable time so makes a nice side trip along the way.

Well preserved location. Unfortunately, we went on a rainy day and were disappointed that they didn't have more explanatory signs around to help describe the Battle of New Market, as it was hard to read the paper map once it got wet.

This small battlefield adjacent to the VMI-owned museum is well laid out for a walking tour. A visit makes for an interesting hike on a sunny spring day. The story of the VMI cadets fighting in the Confederate line of battle is a great legend...More

It is not a popular place, but it should be. It is very small, but there are many stories here. There is much walking, but no major hills.

If you visited and liked First Bull Run, you will probably like this place. I was allowed unescorted access into the Bushong house, which dates back to 1825. There are also numerous outbuildings to see. Make sure you go through the tunnel and cross under...More

Sorry. Apparently I did. A vet complained on here about not getting a discount. I thought I responded to him.
