This Museum is much bigger than it looks from the outside and from when you first enter. Lots of cultural information, history and exhibits, including art and statues. When you get to the back section of the museum you have some awesome view of Mombacho...More

We enjoyed touring and viewing cultural artifacts. Comprehensive view of history through an artistic lens - it is easy to see how Catholicism has influenced Granada in the last 400 years, where they take religious iconography as part of their own identity. There was a...More

Excellent museum set in beautiful old convent, highlighting the history and culture of Granada, its Christian background, as well as a very interesting precolumbian culture, situated on the nearby island of Zapatera between 800 and 1200 AD. Very enjoyable place though I have visited musea...More

The museum seems confusing, as it tries to tell different stories, which has nothing in common. First was how the religious festival are held, then some artist and a lot of religious art and then some archeology. Some of it is ok, but if you...More

Yet another example of a museum which has embraced "let's screw the foreigners" mentality: I went with some fellow students and they sought to charge me 3,000% more (not 30 - not 300 - but 3,000% more!) to enter compared to my equal and equivalent...More

We walked by and decided to check-it out on a whim. We were so thankful this was one of our first stops during our month-long visit. We learned so much about the geography, history, religious art, ceremonies and celebrations, architecture, and craftsmanship. Highly recommended as...More

This new museum occupies a former convent. Multi-media and contains at least three interior courtyards. The first courtyard is surrounded by displays explaining Granada's religious festivals in Spanish and English. The second courtyard represents native artist work. One of exterior courtyards show the archeological statutes...More

We were told this museum was just renewed. We liked how clean and organized it was. The outdoor areas were gorgeous. The rocking chairs for the tourists were a great idea. This place worth the time, the walks and the reading.

Recently opened. Museum iprovides a very nice overview of local and Nicaraguan culture. It is nicely divided between local festivals and traditions, religious festivals, historical events, precolumbian relics, and local art; specifically primitive movement painting.

This is a real must for anyone interested in the art, history and culture of Nicaragua. There are particularly fine examples of naive art for which Nicaragua is famous, along with displays of different cultural scenes. We spent a good two hours here. Lots to...More
