Went to Canelar Barter Trade Center for some pasalubong shopping and find me malongs! Cheapest place to buy souvenirs and Yakan woven bags. You can haggle especially if you're buying quite a number of items. Just let the store attendants know though that you are "just looking around" if you don't want to be pressured in that one store to... More

Canelar Barter Trade is a haven of goods - be it food, useful items, cloths, apparel, souvenir items and the like. They sell goods mostly from Malaysia; and I always buy Maggi Kari, Apollo wafer sticks as pasalubong items here because it's cheaper compared to those being sold in the mall and airport. If you are looking for batik items... More

Cant really say you've been to Zamboanga without visiting the Barter center. The place is famous for sarong, batik, biscuits, chocolayes, sotanghon, and a thousand others featuring Malaysian and Indonesian products at bargai prices (if you have a help from a local guide, like we did... ) Visit here is a must...

When asking my friends on where to go and what to do in Zamboanga City, they never miss out to tell me to go and buy products in Canelar Barter Trade for food products like different varieties of Nescafe coffee, Old Town White Coffee, Apollo wafers of different flavors (these used to be available in supermarkets around the country when... I decided to spend only about an hour here for fear of buying a lot of stuff and paying for excess baggage. I wasn't able to explore the entire area, but those that I did see had mostly Malaysian and Indonesian products on sale. Sadly, only a few were made in Zamboanga. I was told that popular food buys are... More

I enjoyed my trip here, it's as if you're in Malaysia. There are a lot of imported items, I love the different varieties of noodles and as well as their shawls and bags. The stalls that sell pearls lined up in a long aisle. I had fun shopping in there. A good tip is that you try to haggle the... More

When shopping in Zamboanga, the Canelar Barter Trade Center should be on top of your list. From various snacks, canned goods, chocolates, coffee, and tea, to many items of clothing (they have souvenir shirts, traditional shirts, malong, sarong, kufiya, pants, shorts, sandals, etc.), and even laundry detergents and some toilettries, they have them all here. There are even some stores... More

If you like knock-off pasmina shawls, duster dresses, malongs, scarves and unknown chocolate brands then this place is for you. The stalls sell either clothing or foodstuff from Malaysia or Indonesia. Foodstuff are mainly luncheon meat, instant noodles, chocolates (Mainly Apollo brand and a couple of Cadbury's). The prices in the interior stalls are presumably lower than the ones outside... More

If your looking for cheap made in malaysia or indonesia groceries, south sea pearls, indonesian batik clothes then dont miss this place. Haggling a little might help but shop around first so you know the prices. We liked it so much we went back twice during our visit.
