I just took a class this morning and I am so glad I decided to try this. I've never done any water related sport, kayaking, surfing, etc. So this was way out of my comfort zone. But these people are great! I was the slowest person in the class, but someone stuck with me the whole time and never pushed... More

If you have the least bit of interest in doing SUP, these folks do it right. You spend three full hours on the river and we had 3 instructors for about a dozen folks (and the class was sold out) so you get a lot of instruction and support the whole time. We did the Eco tour at Pocahontas Park. It was a blast!!!! No experience necessary. The guide's were very informative and supportive!

my kids age 13 and 11 did a camp with Black Dog this summer. they thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructors were so positive, and really taught them a lot in 4 days. I took a SUP class through another company in Richmond several years ago, but we didn’t learn any more than the basics. At Black Dog Paddle, they teach you everything from how to fall, to how to navigate around obstacles. They let you try out several boards and also give you lots of ideas and advice if you ever plan... More
