I was expecting more water falls as it just looked like some rapids. The park itself was great. There were horses, canoe's, fishing and biking. The receipt for the $5 parking pass had a 10% off coupon for the store.

In the six days we have been in Fries I have ridden 87 miles. If you ride downstream the riding is easy and even upstream it not that hard. It is very scenic with the wide, shallow New River within view most of the way....More

Hiking is easy with not much grade, viewing the New River a real pleasure. Biking, hiking and horse back riding

New River Trail State Park is miles upon miles of trails, but near the middle of the trail is Foster Falls, the main hub of NRTSP. There is a nice visitor center where you can get goodies, but more importantly, lots of land to spend...More

Absolutely loved this trail! I hadn't ridden a bike this far in years. The trail was primarily flat; some areas had more river scenery than others but all in all, it was beautiful. We stayed in New River Trail Cabins so the trail was right...More

We came down to ride on the New River Trail. The first day we started in the park. There is a very nice gift shop by the parking lot where people can buy t-shirts and souvenirs.

Great brief visit here Sunday and was very impressed with the facilities and activities. We'll definitely come back when we have more time. Especially like the kayak and canoe rentals available.

That will depend on how far you want to go and whether you are doing a round trip or need to be transported to your start point. You might want to check google maps to see the street view and check out the scenery.

I don't recall seeing any kayaks on the river. Perhaps you can check with the state park.

Yes, but along the trail from the main store up to the Shot Tower, there was a lot of poison ivy just off the path, as well as places where our little one picked up a ticks. I would make sure to keep your dog from straying... More
