Rich in history and the site of Stonewall Jackson's grave. A must visit for history buffs, students of the Civil War and those interested in Stonewall Jackson.

A pleasant walk through a beautifully landscaped space. Step back in time and let history unfold around you as you stroll the walkways of the cemetery.

Interesting, old cemetery. It is on Main St, so easy to find and walk around. It is well maintained and worth going to see the memorial.

Lovely stroll through the cemetery, provides quite time for contemplation and viewing old stones. There is not much in the way of scenic vantage points, but a nice way to while away some time.

The cemetery's graves date back to the 1790's up to the present. At least three officers & soldiers date to the American Revolution with a large number of Confederate civil war veterans, at least 27 that I was to photograph. There maybe more, however weather & time have eroded away the stone's carving's date. All confederate veteran graves are marked... More

Since I am an avid Volkssporter, I stopped into the Visitor Center and signed up for the Lexington Volksmarch. I had no idea the walk would take me thru the Stonewall Jackson cemetary, until I was there at the entrance! Very interesting. A fine centuries old cemetary! Lexington is a quaint historical town with many different sites, and lots of... More

Make the habit of exploring cemeteries in the places you visit--lovely place to walk with interesting graves, many from the civil war era. Don't miss the Jackson plot, the statue of Stonewall Jackson, the interesting tomb on the walk near the Jackson plot, and the cut-way large bush that reveals several tombstones (it's about 15 yards from the Jackson statue,... No more fighting in a cemetery. The Confederates are resting in peace under the shade of big trees. Stonewall Jackson is looking over of his fallen soldiers, but the battle is over. We have to feel respect for both sides since they fought for something they thought to be the right thing and gave their life for it. Of course,... More

For me this cemetery is special because my paternal grandparents plus my father and mother are buried here, but before any of them died, as a child I visited it because of Stonewall Jackson. It helped that I could walk here from my grandparents' house. Stonewall Jackson was a maths professor at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) here in Lexington and... More
