This is a small but well cared for Civil War battlefield site. It also contains one of the smallest national cemeteries in the country. Guided tours are offered at the weekend in season. They are strongly recommended. Check the website for details.

We enjoy this walk any time of year. There's a variety of trails to choose from and it never seems crowded. If you're a Civil War buff, the historical markers and gravesites are probably an extra added bonus, but the trees, cliffs and river are...More

It was a nice afternoon to take a walk here. The weather was beautiful. The trails are pretty easy - some hilly areas. It had rained so some parts of the trail were slippery. It would be a good place for a guided tour but...More

I actually live in walking distance from the park and have watched it become more civilized over the years of its existence. It's a great place to learn something about Civil War history in the area. You can walk down paths and see old fighting...More

Nice walk with varied lengths/difficulties of paths. Interesting historical information here. There are free tours on the weekends at 11 and 1 that would be worth taking.

Well preserved and intimate battlefield nestled within a housing development on the shore of the Potomac. One of the fist battles of the Civil War. Read up on the history of the battle and you will learn about one of the most incompetent battle strategies...More

My husband and I were the only ones at this battlefield on the day we visited. The plaques are informative and the grounds seemed well maintained. There is a small cemetery and walking trails throughout. My husband and I are not hikers but we enjoyed...More

This is one of the must visit civil war sites, but was poorly presented. There's a variety of colored trails which do not correspond to the trails in the trail map. We spent awhile trying to figure it all out, then gave up. We wandered...More

We had a guided visit of the battlefield during a business convention. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and their passion in learning and teaching this particular history was very communicative. We had a one hour visit but we would have loved to have all day....More

Well, the park is open everyday weather permitting. The first time, it was snowed in so it was closed for several days. However, its a self walking battlefield. Allow 15 mins to walk from the parking to the site. Make sure... More
