We stopped here on a cold damp day to kill some time and were pleasantly surprised by a couple of the wines. The staff needs to work on their knowledge and presentation for tastings, but for the most part very acceptable. The best part is the dog story and the many adorable dogs guarding the vineyard.

When we were looking for something to do on the east coast of Virginia, we were drawn to The Dog and Oyster and the Hope and Glory. Both facilities garnered good reviews. To say the least we were not disappointed. Our stay was in the off season and during the slow time of the year so you would have to... More

The wine was good but there wasn't. Much to the tour. I could only recommend it as a casual visit to taste the wine. Not as a tour.

Stan B, We thank you for saying our wine was "good" which supports all the medals we have won in America's largest competitions. I am sure the "tour wasn't much" because we do not have a scheduled tour. We do have tastings in which hopefully you participated. If our tastings disappointed you, we apologize, because we failed to deliver a... More

The Dog and Oyster Vineyard is a great stop because it combines vine tasting with a menu of delicious oyster dishes. All the oysters are fresh, caught from Virginia waters. And to top it all off, they have multiple dogs on the premises to play with and give treats. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming and it just makes for... More

My husband and I rode our bikes here from the Hope & Glory Inn. We did the wine tasting and ended up getting a glass afterward. The wine was meh, but the overall experience was fun. We enjoyed writing our names on the oyster shells on the table to document the experience. We even made one as a souvenir of... More

ecc1002, We thank you again for another posting. We hope more of our wine guests take home a personalized oyster shell - a practice that was created several years ago by one of our guests; and, it continues to be one of the many things that have prompted Virginia Tourism to name our vineyard one of the "10 Best in... We stayed at the associated Hope and Glory Inn, and biked over to the Dog and Oyster one afternoon. Had a great time. The wine selection is limited, but solid. What they do, they generally do well. But it's more than just the tasting. I loved the property. The cute-as-heck dogs that lay among the vines. I'm a sucker for... More

We, as owners, are most grateful for guests who write more than one review - selecting our hotel; our restaurant; our spa; our cruise; or our vineyard. Thank you, gjrienzi! You have said such kind things about the Hope and glory's other business: "solid wines"; "incredible oysters"; "cute-as-heck dogs"; and, "a big thumbs up labels". You really put a smile... More

We didn't go here the first 3 years that we went to the Tides, thinking that the wine would be bad. I'm so happy that we finally came! It's a beautiful vineyard, with great tastings at reasonable prices. The staff is wonderful and the vineyard is pristine and it's a perfect afternoon outing.

We had so much fun here! The owner did our wine tasting. He gave a fabulous presentation filled with history of winemaking. As a history buff I loved it! Loved that they have rescue dogs. Sorry we missed the oysters but will definitely come back for that. Beautiful location and good wines

The setting was lovely, but the wines were only ok. You have to sit outside on the covered patio, as there isn't enough room inside.
