I have been visiting this park for many, many years now and have always enjoyed the peace and tranquility. My recent stay of a week has been the longest getaway with no T.V. limited cell service, and plenty a relaxation.

Once we found the campground (iPhone map app sends you to state forest), we were pleasantly surprised. Camp host and park staff were great and plenty for kids (ages 6 & 7) to do. This is definitely on our shortlist.

We allow hammocks but we follow the industry best practice of requiring straps. For future information, here is our policy: Virginia State Parks do allow the use of hammocks, though it varies from park to park due to campsite logistics (i.e. trees not near enough...More

My extended family and I had a mini-reunion and stayed in one of the lodges on the property. The rooms all had bunk beds, which I thought was awesome and were actually quite comfy. Rest of the family wasn't crazy about the "common bathroom", but...More
