Don't miss the driveway to this little, but nice winery! The German owners/hosts are very nice and provide great information about the vineyard and the wines you are tasting.

I am not sure if it was just me or if the wines really did taste a bit on the sour side. The tasting menu consists of seven wines, three white, three red and one sweet white. All the wines seemed to have a sour aftertaste with the Vintner's Red being almost undrinkable. The Roussanne was by far the best... More

I stopped by on the way back from Shenandoah; it was a downer. Their pricing is quite high for a stingy tasting of 5 wines, our wine educator could have been more friendly and the wines were not my favorites. The view is actually beautiful, but nothing too different from what you see at the part itself.

We stopped here after visiting a couple of our favorites (Philip Carter and Fox Meadow) and found that while the whites were decently balanced, the reds were overly acidic. Sometimes you can't put your finger on it, but when a wine is balanced, all of the flavors balance each other, and this winery just hasn't found the sweet spot yet,... More

My husband and I visited on a child-free Friday afternoon and found the experience to be wonderful. Chelsy (spelling?) that did our tasting was amazing and obviously had a passion for the wines. We were surprised at the end of our tasting to find out at the she was new and she credited the owner for training her so well!... More

Tried to visit this winery several times in the past without success due to their limited days being open. Suggest that you verify that they will be open when you want to visit. That said, we visited this past weekend and enjoyed the tasting. The tasting room is small, with very limited inside seating, so if you plan to have... More

If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Front Royal, Virginia, then a trip to Chester Gap Cellars is well worth a trip. If you enjoy wine, white or red, you will not be disappointed in Chester Gap Cellars. They are pouring superb whites, gorgeous reds and one of our favorites the 2013 Cuvee Manseng. We purchased Chardonnay Reserve,... More

My wife and I went early and were the first ones there so we had the whole place to ourselves. We loved the wines and bought a bottle of one of the whites. We typically are not VA wine fans and were impressed here!

While this is a beautiful spot and we enjoyed our time sipping wine and chatting on the deck, most of the wines we tasted were not very good.

We stopped at Chester Gap Cellars at the recommendation of another winery. We are so glad to have the time to speak to Bern, about his time spent on the vineyards. The wine was very nice, and the conversation excellent. We were the only ones there, so we had a nice time learning about the wines and some of the... More
