Michie Tavern (pronounced Mickey) is only a quarter mile from Monticello and historic in its own right. All building s are original and reconstructed here on the close grounds to Jefferson’s home. Not only is this a restaurant, but you can do either a self...More

It is a buffet style period tavern/restaurant. Plenty of seating, plenty of food and good service. Waiters/waitress will bring refills of anything you want to the table. Dessert was good too. They offer tours but we didn't take one because we were going to Monticello....More

Four of us stopped at Michie’s today for lunch after checking out surrounding wineries. Winner! The ambiance was charming and the food fabulous. All diners are funneled through a buffet line with three meats and many southern sides, all for $18.95. Drinks and desserts are...More

After a full day at Monticello, be sure to stop at Michie Tavern for a fabulous meal. The buffet style offers a varied selection of "comfort" food. The fried chicken is the very best!! The waiters/waitresses are dressed in colonial wear. Everyone is very attentive...More

You drive by Michie Tavern on the way to Monticello and it looks like a very colonial place to eat. The history behind the tavern makes up for the rushed busyness of getting your meal. It is a buffet and the food was ok. Pulled...More

Without Monticello nearby, Michie would not likely be so popular, but they have a great niche with period dress and food likely to have been enjoyed in the 1700s and 1800s. It is pretty assembly-line with a buffet that likely changes like never, but it...More

So it’s a cool touristy buffet in an old tavern with the staff dressed in period costume. I figured the food would be “just ok”. Well I was very wrong. The food was amazingly delicious. Fired chicken was spot on and the stewed tomatoes were...More

They have cole slaw. You must pay for the full meal even if you only eat the cole slaw. It is $18 adults and $11 children plus dessert is extra.
