Ok it is a little pricey for fried chicken (but the fried chicken chicken is excellent here!) delicious sweet cornbread and those tasty round beets. But it is in. Historic building and the service is friendly and good. The peach cobbler is unremarkable... Skip dessert...More

If you are visiting Monticello and Highland, and don't want to eat at the perfectly serviceable (if small) cafe at the Monticello Visitor's Center, then this seems to be the only place nearby the eat. It's location is a result of brilliance by the woman...More

A little pricey but this is an old old place 6 minutes from Monticello. We'll organized, get-you-through buffet. Fried chicken and veggies very good. They bring a tray around to reload. Our table wobbled. Our server crawled under the table and fixed it. Worth going.

Lunch was better than good, as sitting down as a family at table for the family (not trying to squeeze into a booth) the wood table, benches, framing, and otherwise gives the feel of stepping back 200 plus years. The food is endless and the...More

I visited for lunch one Friday afternoon for a great chicken buffet with wonderful traditional sides. They are known for their fried chicken but the baked chicken was equally good. The setting is a log cabin with out-buildings and servers are clad in early American...More

We were looking for a nice place for a family lunch on a cold wintry day, and were delighted with the informal southern cafeteria style options provided by the Michie Tavern. We were able to serve our own potatoes, beans, chicken, pulled pork, and other...More

Eating the buffet was well worth it. However, the tour of the old reassembled Tavern was disappointing and not worth the money or time.

The food is so good and after you go through the line to get your food the servers dressed in period costumes will refill your plates. Everyone was very friendly and made our trip enjoyable.

$18 for a family style meal seems a fair price. There wasn't a whole lot of variety, it was southern/country food. The staff was good and the tour was entertaining in a homely small town way. You've got excellent mashed potatoes and biscuits. That said,...More

They have cole slaw. You must pay for the full meal even if you only eat the cole slaw. It is $18 adults and $11 children plus dessert is extra.
