My mom and I toured Smithfield Plantation while visiting Blacksburg. The tour was very interesting and our guide was very informative. The home had a lot of artifacts and it was interesting to learn the history and uses of them.

We took family to visit on a day with nothing particular to do. We were delighted with the historical guide, the attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the exhibits and store.

See the authentically time period dressed workers around the many flowers and vegetable gardens of this property while taking in the beautiful mountain views. There are fruit trees and manicured lawns. There is an outdoor shelter that can be used for receptions or weddings. If...More

Good, educational visit. Knowledgeable, friendly docent who clearly described the house and history of this one-family property.
