Visited this winery while visiting the area. Beautiful setting with great views of the vineyards. The wine was excellent as we have found in this area. We sat on a deck overlooking the vineyards and even after they closed, we were allowed to remain there until ready to leave. The ruins appeared very interesting. We just viewed them from the... I have visited many wineries all over the world and never have I felt like a herding animal. We were clustered with large groups of people and sent through wine stations. The staff that poured were not engaging and looked like they just wanted the day to be over. One particular person just poured the wine, said the name and... More

This place is so beautiful you almost forget what you went there for. Wine tasting cost is $6.00 for an astounding 20 different kinds. The white wine and reds are outstanding, the desert wines were to sweet for me and my wife. We did purchase a couple of bottles and can't wait to polish them of at home. The restaurant... More

$7 for a glass and tasting many wines was very reasonable. The new guy pouring champagne was having a great first day. All the folks behind the bars were friendly and knowledgeable. We then moved to the Library and enjoyed the meat and cheese trays with plenty of bread and great service. Can't wait for our next visit.

We first stopped at the James Madison historic site and continued to the vineyards for lunch and an overnight stay. The grounds overlook the vineyards and ruins of a Thomas Jefferson designed mansion. After our lunch and complementary wine tastings that came with it, all we needed were "snacks" for dinner. There is a picnic deck and veranda that overlook... More

This winery is fabulous. Always have to stop whenever we go to charlottesville. Approximately 14 different wines to sample. All are exceptional. Went on the tour and Bill the tour guide was excellent. Stocked up on wine. Wish it was closer

When you pull up to this winery you have great expectations of a one-of-a-kind experience. But sadly, the day we went, it was crowded (although the staff said it was not particularly crowded). It felt like you were in a cafeteria -- you go from station to station and they pour wine in your glass and then walk away before... More

A unique winery among the many in that you learn so much about not only the wine, but also the historic ruins, cemetery, and Thomas Jefferson's historic architectural building that burned thee on Christmas Day in 1886. You can have tastings but also get a bottle with glass glasses and go picnic under sheltered tables or in the shadow of... More
