We hiked from the capitol building to the look out tower. Ground was covered with snow, but the trails were nicely packed. Lots of unleashed dogs, which didn't bother me a bit, but might bother some. Trails aren't marked well, but it's a pretty small...More

One can spend a few hours at Hubbard Park, enjoy a quiet walk up to the top and look out over Montpelier. A beautiful walk with your dog too.

So lucky to have this forested gem right in the center of town. Miles of beautifully kept hiking trails groomed for skiing in the winter. My dog and I absolutely could not live here without this park

Went to the park after a light dusting of snowfall in December. Obviously December is not the ideal time to take a hike, but we had no complaints about the beautiful and peaceful tranquility. The air was crisp and clean and the other nature-loving hikers...More

Nice respite in the heart of a bustling city. Many trails to wonder thru. The hill top has a CCC fire tire made of stone. On a clear day you can see Camels Hump.Picnic tables around top and the dogs ran free. Lovely atmosphere, easy...More

We live in California. The state capitol of Vermont is so different from California's. You have to see the capitol building at night - it's lit up beautifully!

I have lived in Montpelier most of my life and enjoy every minute in Hubbard park. From casual walks to running trails, this park is truly a gem. Lots of walking/running/biking trails to activity shelters and there is always the amazing tower. A must see.

A great place to stretch your legs while traveling. A quick hike to the top rewarded with an observatory tower from the early 1900s that you can climb. Worth it if you've been cooped up in a car and have an extra hour to kill....More

This is not really what you think of as an urban park. It is a densely wooded hill with hiking trails. The trails are quite steep. Parking is iffy and not easily accessed. We choose to park at Winter Street entrance and it is a...More

Our plan was to eat a picnic lunch at Hubbard Park and then climb the tower. We did not know that you can't actually park there. It is located at the top of a steep hill. In order to get there, you park at the...More

Definitely, if you're in moderately good shape. There are some steep areas, but if you take it slow you'll be fine. Just as an FYI, we are both in our 50's and hike approximately 2-3 times per week.
