We walked the grounds on one of the oddly warm days of February. The house is fascinating but if you get a chance, take the 10 minute walk to the goat farm, especially if you have young kids. Misty, the attending farmer was a fountain of knowledge and enthusiasm, and made our kids have a wonderful afternoon. Our kids fed... More

I am a local here and brought my boyfriend who is from out of town here and we had the best time. It is the perfect place for a date if you love history! The house is beautiful and the guides were very informative. The train car was breath taking and the dark is not to be missed! You can... More

Our son was married here in 2010, so we were quite familiar with the home and gardens as a summer feast for the eyes. But we learned from the Equinox Spa where we were staying that the trails are open for x-country skiing and snowshoeing, so being less than a mile from the hotel we went! There are several miles... This is the second time I've visited Hildene and I enjoyed it just as much - although spring and summer are so much prettier.

We were the only visitors during our visit. The house and Pullman car were beautifully restored. Make sure you see the video first.

I had never heard of Hildene, the turn-of-the-century home of Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert. But the home, set on over 400 acres, is lovely architecturally, and very interesting historically. Well organized for visitors, with good displays, a helpful and knowledgeable guide on site, and well presented signage about the rooms and displays. Nice gift shop, with two excellent short films... The estate and grounds are grand; quite the accomplishment of Robert Lincoln, son of the President, who became a captain of industry after the Civil War. For anyone who has an interest in President Lincoln and his family, this is a MUST visit. Full of Lincoln memorabilia and the story well told about the family and all of its tragedies.... More

During our weekend stay at Landgrove Inn in Landgrove VT we took a ride into Manchester. It was a cold day! Snow on the ground.... but we bundled up. We have driven by it many times thru the years and finally decided to go. So glad we did. You pull onto the grounds and park. Go into the gift shop,... More

Fantastic! We were staying in Manchester VT on a hiking/skiing/site seeing trip, and wanted to check out the local attractions. Hildene was a short drive, and well worth the trip. If you enjoy history and taking a quick step back in time, then Hildene is a must. The story of the Lincoln family is not only interesting, but informative. Be... More
