McConkie Ranch may not be real well known? We found out about it by visiting the Utah Field House in Vernal. It turned out to be a great 'suggested viewing'. First, it's a ways out of town, it's a two lane road, and the ranch...More

I just returned from an extensive trip to Utah and this was the highlight of the trip. I explored the McConkie Ranch petroglyphs and was so delighted. I thought these were some of the best petroglyphs that I have ever seen (just my opinion). I...More

McConkie Ranch was one of the absolute highlights of our recent 3,800-mile road trip around the West. Its collection of petroglyphs is second to none. Viewing this 1,000-year-old rock art is a religious experience, akin to visiting the great cathedrals of Europe. The wonder is...More

We hiked the easier path to see the 3 Kings petroglyphs on this family owned ranch. It was worth the $5 admission which is based on the honesty system. We saw wonderful art works which were easily accessible. Getting to the rock faces involved crossing...More

We explored the McConkie Ranch petroglyphs based on a recommendation from the local Forest Ranger Guides in Vernal. Be prepared that the hike although relatively short is steep in sections and will require some effort to climb. The petroglyphs here consist of several groupings of...More

Be prepared that the trail is steep and is not clear. You will be climbing over rocks and ducking trees and bushes. There are a lot of fake "petroglyphs" unfortunately. I was a bit disappointed. The petroglyphs in the dinosaur monument are easier to see...More

My family hiked to the petroglyphs and spent several hours viewing them. They enjoyed every minute they spent there and were fascinated with the beauty of the petroglyphs. It was wonderful for the children to see these and gain an understanding of how difficult it...More

We arrived here at dusk and there's a sign that says "Closes at dark" so we only got to spend 30 minutes or so on the trail. We have 6 kids ages 1-13 and most of them did fine. A couple of the little ones...More

The location is relatively easy to find. The Dry Fork Canyon drive is spectacular! On one of the towering rock formations someone has put the American flag with the words: Remember the Maine! We loved the drive. When we arrived at the Ranch, the cost...More

I suppose you could. I saw no signs saying you couldn't. The path to climb is narrow, but no problem for a dog.
