I found this back country byway on accident while searching for letterboxes in the ghost town of Grafton, UT. The byway is a fun rough road to take my Xterra up and back down. I think I'll try to camp up here next time I...More

The views from this road are totally awe-inspiring; the road itself is beyond awful ... deep ruts; huge rocks; steep inclines ... I thought that nothing could be worse than Schnebly Hill Road in Sedona, but this road is truly worse. Only that my husband...More

Views are excellent and the route accesses good MTB terrain on Gooseberry Mesa and Wire Mesa. The crux is about a 1/4 mile of the dugway climbing up from the Rockville/Grafton area from Highway-9. A Subaru Outback can make it if you have reasonable skills....More

Smithsonian Butte road is reasonable in 2wd vehicles if conditions are dry and you drive carefully. Having driven this route a number of times, my experience is that the crux is the climb up from the Rockville side. Once you are on top, the road...More

Picture is misleading. I don't recall any water along this byway except at Rockville. Still, pretty drive.

We tried this road in a station-wagon. Thank goodness we had front wheel drive. The road was fine from Rockville all the way to the top. But, all of a sudden, we were in mud. I did not dare stop. Later we passed a 4...More
