This small road between Park City and Brighten is only open in the Summer and Fall. In Winter and Spring it is buried under 10 to 20 feet of Utah's famous powder. A trip over the pass in the Fall is particularly spectacular as the...More

You can drive from the downtown area up to Deer Valley Resort. But from there the main road with the scenic views are closed after Thanksgiving. Usually when there is snow on the mountains the rangers close this road off. Best time to go :May...More

This is probably the best thing you can do (outside of ski season) near Park City. It is a fun road to drive (and can be a bit scary at times). It's probably it's prettiest in Sept and early October. We checked out all the...More

This road trip is very scenic and not inordinately difficult. There are many turn outs for photography and viewing. on both ends of the drive there are extensive tourist facilities for dining, lodging, etc.

We just missed the peak of the fall colors on October 21 but found the drive to be inspirational with the towering mountain views. The road is narrow in spots so the driver must concentrate on the road. It is safe as others are drive...More

This drive is well worth it. Take your time and take it all in. Plenty of photo opportunities as well as short hikes along the way. Pack a picnic and enjoy the drive.

Because we were in Park City in October, the Guardsman Pass was open to vehicle traffic. My wife and I picked a windy, cold day to go make the drive. The road twists and turns up and over the pass then down into Heber Valley....More

great loop from Deer Valley/Park City to the top of the pass and then return a few miles to the newly paved road down to Midway and circle back through Heber City to Park City.

This is a must do. Exquisite scenery. Make the big loop thru Big Cottonwood Canyon. A short portion of the road (less than one mile) is pretty scary but worth it. Ate at Silver Fork Lodge - excellent.

It is a beautiful location. I would imagine if you asked the Huber City people. You would have to truck everything up there. I would only attempt this in the summer.

Paved but very narrow in spots. On the way to Brighton (past the pass) there is one curve that was pretty damaged (with graded gravel surface) and only passable by one vehicle at a time. You just have to watch for oncoming... More

Yes. Typically, Guardsman Pass is open by the first part of June. You will be fine. We did have about 150% over normal snowpack this Winter, which is great for skiiers and provides significant water runoff for our... More
