A very nice trail which circumnavigates the 'West Mitten Butte' in Monument Valley next to the View Hotel. First 2/3 was a bit up and down but no great grades, generally pretty even. Last third back up was a bit strenuous but this 65 year old, ex-smoker made it. Terrific views - you are right at the base of the... More

Great hike but recommend only in cooler months. I can see where it can get hot on this hike. The trail is exposed with little to no shade. We were lucky enough to meet only one other couple along the trail. A nice treat after driving the Valley Loop!!

The hike is a good one, about 90 mins. Some plants have name cards which is nice to know, there are markers to let you know how far you've come. You get a chance to see the mitten from a completely different viewpoint from anywhere else in the park, that's a win! The very last part of the return is... More

I mostly jogged this trail and absolutely loved it. This is a spectacular place. The trail is a 3.8 mile loop and I jogged 3 miles and walked the rest. The most strenuous is at the end having to go back up a sand dune (easy at the start) and it's quite steep and slippery but totally doable. The rest... More

This is a well marked trail but we walked round it over a couple of pottering hours and saw no one else. The views are gorgeous and change with the light and every footstep you take. It's a gentle wander if you have an ability to walk a mile easily - just be sure to take water (Lots) and a... More

You actually get to walk all the way around one of the "Mittens" with some great views. Take plenty of water and of course your camera!

The entire family can enjoy this 3.2-mile trail. It begins at the camping area inside Monument Valley. It starts out fairly easy, with a downhill stroll. The trail circles around "The Mitten," then circles back to the camping area. That downhill stroll becomes a more strenuous uphill hike through some fine sand, but it's doable. Hiking shoes or boots are... More

I decided to try the wildcat trial. It was quite a hike. If you decide to do the hike make sure you wear hiking boots. A lot of soft sand. I wore tennis shoes and sand and lil rocks kept getting into my shoes making it a pain to keep walking. The scenery was awesome. Saw a few wildlife animals.... More
