If you haven't done much slick rock hiking you should know that there is a lot of up and down even if the overall terrain is fairly level. I think this hike had almost 1800 feet of vertical hiking and much of that is done...More

Beautiful area in the Needles district of Canyonlands NP. Great vistas and varied terrain. First 100 yds is steep and difficult with tricky footing but things level out in many spots and is doable for most people in reasonable shape. Highly recommended if in the...More

For our 32nd wedding anniversary, we decided to do the long Chesler Park/Joint Trail loop. And we were SO glad we did!! We've hiked the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands and some others. Yet, this was absolutely our best hike...More

On one of our days in Moab, my sister and I drove to the Needles District to hike the Chesler Park Loop Trail. Let me just start by saying a few things: (1.) the drive to the trail head is horrible. After it leaves pavement,...More

This was one of the coolest hikes with the best views we've done on our holiday. This was our favorite hike in Canyonlands National Park (Needles). Take plenty of water. We took a gallon each and used it all. It does get hot.

Did this amazing hike with my son; both of us were fit, and we started early enough (in June). However, we somehow missed the turn to return to the loop trail (and our excellent campsite, CP1), and ended up going ALL THE WAY VIA devil's...More

I was hiking solo and was a little worried as whether I would have enough time of stamina to do the full loop. I decided in the end to not stress about it and to do the trail until the top of the look out....More

The ranger at the park recommended this hike to us and we are glad she did. The hike itself is wonderful, with lots of scenery changes, a little rock scrambling, and a variety of things to look at. And the view at the end of...More

This is a day hike of about 5 h with the possibility of additional loops. It goes trough washes, valleys and climbs across boulders and sandstones. It is reasonably well marked in part with cairns. As the other trails in the Needles, it is not...More
