Before entering the museum make sure to watch the informative movie about Powell's explorations of the canyons by river. The museum is beautifully set up, especially on the upper level. It appears to be brand new. On the lower level you can marvel at the...More

This museum is all about the trip which was made by John Powell to explore the Green and Colorado river in 1869. Your visit starts with a movie and afterwards you can explore the museum. Toilets outside on the corner. Museum shop with friendly staff.

John Wesley Powell and his team completed an incredible feat under unbelievable conditions. There are replicas of the boats used in the exploration and a full accounting of the mapping of the Colorado River, previously unknown. All this by a one-armed man! It was informative...More

Enjoyed the dioramas. The displays and lectures were very interesting. I thought that I knew very little about John Wesley Powell but realized his significant Place in history after watching the movie.

I was in Green River and stopped in here on a whim. Glad I did. It was very reasonably priced and had great information and exhibits on Mr Powell and the geography of the area.

I have written a 2,000 word picture book for 8 - 12 year olds. Before I submit it to a publisher i need an expert on John Wesley Powell to review the manuscript and write a critique. Do you know of someone who is capable and willing to read my work? cell) 970-216-1895

Scott H is certainly giving you a good start. Also see if you can contact any other authors on Mr Powell who are still extant and get their suggestions. You need the opinion/reviews of people who have written about his life... More
