We came here for the day simply to enjoy the beach. The water was fairly warm and the overall beach area was clean. You can drive your car all the way up to the water's edge if you'd like. However, if you do not have...More

Perfect place to stay! As long as you pay attention to the deep sands, you can park your RV on the beach and have a great stay right on the lake. There's a dump station right after passing the crossbar, where you can also tap...More

It's odd how some spots don't become popular with tourists even in heavily visited areas. This seemed like one of them (another was Coral Sands state park near Kanab which I also wrote about). Just down the road there were huge crowds at Horseshoe Bend...More

I went mainly to see the rock. $25 per vehicle to enter unless you have an annual national parks pass. Beach didn't have soft sand but had small rocks so kids wouldn't be able to play for long there, especially if water is too cold...More

This was a great beach for a couple hour visit for our family on a warm Utah afternoon. We're from MN, so warm for us is 72 degrees. The water was cool, but our kids still loved swimming and splashing around. We wish we had...More

Unfortunately the only downside is driving on a dirt road to the actual beach. Otherwise, once you're there the view is beautiful It's lovely and peaceful. Ideal place to spend half a day to have a picnic or just relax.

Yes, you may certainly go for the day and not camp! As a matter of fact, I don't recall buying or needing a pass while visiting the Lone Rock.

How busy does it get for Memorial Day weekend? Would getting there Thursday morning be early enough to get a spot? Is overly crowded?

Crazy busy and crowded and loud 24/7 on Mem Day weekend, so if you like music blaring all night long and drunk people riding ATVs through your camp, you'll like Lone Rock. No guarantees that you can find a spot even on the... More

Coming down for a little fishing. How busy is Lone Rock in mid-April? Can you have open fires? How save is it to leave my boat on the beach over night, is there any protection from the waves?

It can be busy in April but not as busy as June-August since the water hasn't warmed up enough to swim. To my recollections not too many waves unless the wind kicks up a lot--it's kind of like a bay there.
