This is one of those things you don't expect to come across while travelling through this area. It was fascinating to hear how they originally found these Mammoth bones and what they have found since they have done more excavating. I especially enjoyed seeing the bones that have been left intact in an enclosed area to protect them from the... More

My daughter and I both have a shared interest in geology and fossils so this was a must see for us when we were visiting Waco and have since visited a couple more times. It is a site that is still has more to come in future years but this is a lovely start. If you have young children, this... More

What I loved about this little gem was it is a good morning or afternoon activity. It is good for ages over 5, or for any age that loves bones. Beautiful park with activities for kids of all ages, including badges for Boy and Girl scouts. The actual museum is only open with a paid tour ticket, which runs $3-$6.... More

My sister, her husband, and I enjoyed the peaceful nature walk to reach the Waco Mammoth display building at this National Monument. Knowledable tour guides shared interesting facts and information about the fossils discovered there.

This is a nice, quaint park just a short drive from downtown Waco. This is one of the smallest parks I have visited in the U.S. parks system, but it is worth the time. While visiting you are guided to a modern building that was built over an active dig site, uncovering a number of different animals from long ago.... More

This is a convenient activity for young and old - an easy walk with few steps (if any). The staff is friendly, helpful and provide a great tour. We love the tiny, but well-stocked shop. But the site itself is fascinating. We have taken middle schoolers as well as pensioners and all have enjoyed learning about the specimens discovered as... More

We have visited on two occasions. The staff is well versed on this small, but fascinating place. We are very interested in the history of Texas and it is amazing to find this unique site so close to home.
