We enjoy exploring our beautiful State Parks whenever we travel. I love having a Texas State Parks pass, which eliminates the fee to enter the park. This was our first time at Tyler State Park. It was beautiful! There are numerous camp sites and hiking...More

This lake is gorgeous. Peaceful and quiet. Our campsite had a view over the lake. Took a nice walk in the quiet loops. Very picturesque. Nice playground as well. Paddle boats, ducks, fish, bulldogs, raccoons were all in store for us.

I really enjoyed the trails for hiking. It was very relaxing to get away from the city. The swimming beach area is okay. The lake ground is sand, some rocks, and lots of seaweed. I would definitely suggest water shoes. The water is clear over...More

It's a really good place to visit, serene, cool place. It is kept well, the lake and the forest. People were seen swimming, paddling and fishing. Loved the atmosphere and the cool weather.

Tyler State Park is about 8 miles north of Tyler, Texas and only about a mile north of Interstate 20. It has a small, man made lake, and many campsites set in the woods. The forest is a mix of pine trees and hardwood trees,...More

There was a section of one trails that was closed due to previous flooding but it may have reopened by now. If not the detour was clearly marked. You should inquire with the Park Rangers if all trails are open and accessible... More

Hi, we are going camping this weekend and would love to know if the heat bothered you at all? I am not a swimmer although all my family are, so they can always jump in the water. Thanks for the input.

Sorry to not answer sooner! I found the shade and the breeze great and got us thru the heat of the day.

We stayed at Huntsville state park last year in late July/early August. It was awful! HOT HOT HOT outside and the lake was even hot! No Fricken relief in the lake at all! The water was like jumping in a hot murky bath tub with a risk of getting eaten by gators. Sooo...is the water at Tyler State Park nice and cool during the heat of summer or another miserably hot cesspool?
