This is a must stop! The food was amazing. I had brisket sandwich and hubby had fried antelope and quail and everything was sooo good! The staff is so friendly. The prices are very reasonable along with the portions. Try the chili to had it as a appetizer so good.

Starlight Never Fails
Mar 2021
With is interesting clientele, its awesome views, and its top-flight food the Starlight never fails. The typical wait (plan on it) allows you to soak in the ambience. Much more party than persnickety. Order the Chicken-Fried Antelope appetizer and the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. The Sprouts are the ATOMIC BOMB!

Best Margarita!!
Jul 2020 • Family
Sat outside on the patio and watched the sun set. Had some yummy chips, salsa, guacamole and a couple of spectacular margaritas to wash it down. Got our pictures taken with Clay Henry! Fun little stop!!

Eat somewhere else

We got to starlight early (they open at 5pm and we arrived at 5:30). Granted, it was peak season in BBNP but our wait was an hour and 45 minutes. We went to check on our table after an hour an half and the hostess had crossed off our names and said she thought that we left. There isn't a paging system or even a microphone to announce names so if you don't hear them scream your name, you're out of luck. We were finally sat after waiting 2 hours and 15 minutes (without much of an apology). The food is typical barfood and is not very good (definitely not worth that kind of wait). There are 2 bathrooms outside which had very long lines with a wait list that long. I'd recommend going to one of the other places in town (although limited options) even though other places don't offer table service.

Great service, Good Food, open at 5PM ehhhh....
Feb 2020
I recently made a trip to Big Bend and wanted to have dinner at the Starlight because it was a historic building. Everything was great, the music was awesome and the service was great. I had the Chili, pro tip, ask them to sub the tortilla chips for fritos; then put them in your chili. The best.

The only thing I didnt like was that they didnt open until 5PM, people started lining up at 4 PM to get in, if youre not one of the groups that gets in that line there is a long wait. Imagine 30 + people all ordering at the same time basically. Although, I do have to say that we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Kudos on that.

Overall, the service, food and music made up for the hour I waited in line for the place to open. If you dont mind the wait, this is the place for you.

The Only Place in Town

There are a couple of other restaurants in Terlingua, but this is the only one worth going to. During the busy season you need to line up about a half hour before it opens at 5 or the wait will be hours. I ordered the mixed grill with the filet and it was wonderful. The quail was excellent. Te sausage was also pretty good. There was enough food on my plate for 2 people, and I felt like I had another person on my shoulders the next morning when we went hiking the next day, but that may have something to do with the margaritas as well.

Wonderful Dinner in Historic Building
Dec 2019
We had a delicious dinner and drinks with live entertainment in the historic Starlight Theatre Restaurant. Did not expect to find such good dining in this “off-the-beaten-track” location. The service was very nice, the food excellent, and the singer/guitar player was nice entertainment while we dined. The Terlingua Ghost Town is pleasantly quiet and laid-back. The restaurant is popular, so arrive a bit before they open to get your name on the list for a table.

Music, food & drinks

We were warned about the long wait, so we reinforce that message - get there when they open and put your name in, then go shopping at the gift shop while you wait. It took a long time to be seated, and a long time for the food to come out. Food was pretty good, the House Margarita was good, too. The staff were friendly. They were out of several things on the menu, which was a bummer, but it was an experience.

Surreal
Nov 2019
A really weird place in the middle of the spoil heaps of many decades of mercury mining in the desert. We went on a night when a guy wearing leggings, a Robin Hood hat and playing a cello was trying to entertain a room full of stetson wearing 'good old boys' with his avant-garde musicianship. One of them actually got up to punch him at one point! Definitely one of the weirdest nights I have ever spent. The bar staff were friendly and there is a very expensive gift shop next door and even more expensive accommodation next to that. I've rated it as average but it far from that - it's just a very strange place and that may appeal to some people, including me, but only for a short time until the novelty wears off.

Starlight Love
Oct 2019
Loved the Starlight Theatre. Great, friendly atmosphere. "The porch" was an absolutely great place to hang out with tourists and locals.

The pan seared filet mignon steak with red wine reduction sauce was one of the best steaks I have ever had! Will definitely go back!
