My husband and I happened across Caverns of Sonora 17 years ago while on a road trip and loved it. They have a small, quiet campground and amazing caves. So, when we knew we would be in the area again we made it a point to stay there and see the caves. It didn't disappoint. Colton & Patsy provided lots... More

This is a very intimate cave experience but don't touch. The dormant section would be appreciated by geology lovers. The living cave section has many unusual formations up close and personal. Our guide, Thomas, is very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the cave. We took the standard tour ($20), but there is a longer photographers tour available $120).... More

This was a fantastic stop for us. We arrived on Sunday morning about 10-11am and were the only 2 there for the 1st tour of the day. Our tour guide was Isaih and he was wonderful. Answered all questions we could throw at him. The caverns are amazing. The grounds are amazing. There's camping areas, animals (such as deer, turkey,... More

With over 50 years of active caving, I can say that this is, inch per inch, the prettiest cave I've been in. The campground/RV sites are beautiful, clean and convenient. The family that owns it are great stewards of the cave and the surrounding land. The staff is courteous and professional in their approach to ensure you get to see... More

Thomas was our guide in this fabulous place. We stopped in Sonora as a way point between Austin & Carlsbad, where we planned to go to the caverns. When we checked TA for things to do in Sonora, really the only thing is the caverns. So why not? What a surprise to find world class caverns, unlike any we've ever... More

I visited the caverns in 2009 and the tour now includes more cavern than previously. If you are staying at a hotel in Sonora, bring your receipt or room card for Cavern tour discount. While waiting for the tour, the gift shop is fun to explore with all the gemstones and geodes etc. They sell bags of dirt with some... More

The Caverns are beautiful. The first 15 minutes of the tour was disappointing BUT then we got to the live part of the cave. MAGNIFICIENT! This cave is not for those that are claustrophobic. The trails are narrow and there are some low ceilings. The stalagmites are right beside you the entire time unlike Carlsbad Caverns. We felt the $20... More

$20 each...has a gift shop with some really nice things...can only view cave via guided tour which you book on arrival inside gift shop...we only had to wait 45 mins for next available tour...cave is constantly 71° worth 98% humidity so you won't need a jacket and wear comfy walking shoes...there are around 360 steps inside cave, easily doable for... Great tour. We loved Thomas. He was very knowledgeable and informative. Loved hearing about the geological formations from water and gas. Just the right amount of time underground.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
