We pre purchased our tickets online, we got a confirmation of our purchase along with detail trip information. Very helpful and informative. We arrived early and picked up our tickets. We were directed where to go and when. The train ride to Palestine was about 2 hrs, with no delays. The closed general admission tickets were nice. We had windows... More

We learned of the Texas State Railroad from the "Tourist train guidebook " and adjusted our route to stay in the Rusk area. We opted for the Lone Star car, and were glad we made that choice. When booking, we found that TSRR has discounts for AAA or AARP. Be sure to check schedule when booking, as they have changed... More

If you haven't taken the time to step back in time and experience the Texas State Railroad, you're seriously missing out on one of life's little pleasures. Whether it be a spring trip through the dogwoods and foliage, a dinner with wine excursion, or the wonder of the Polar Express to stop in to visit the famous Mr. Claus, the... More

We camped at the Texas State Railorad Campground for Easter 2016. We also went on the Easter Bunny Express train ride. Our campsite was nice. It was on a little cirlce that the kids could ride their scooters around. It was a short walk (~ 5min) to the train depot. The train was cool! The kids loved riding the train... More

Although It does need some TLC currently this is a nice quite place to go walk the dog and get outside. There are restrooms, pavilions, and camping sites available and it does have a nice pond, "This place truly has possibilities!!!" Yet at this point it Needs Some TLC, Maintenance, Mowing, and Clean up. The Old Train Station is Neat.

This was the first time I had been on the Polar Express train. The employees on the train and at the train station were VERY nice and attentive to us. There was something going on the WHOLE 1 1/2 hour round trip from being served cookies, hot chocolate, listening to the story from the movie, the conductor punching the girls... More

How often have you wondered what it was like to ride the rails of yore? If so, you don't want to miss riding the Texas State Railroad. You'll enjoy a vintage steam or diesel locomotive, period cars, and a ride you won't soon forget! This trip through Texas' Piney Woods will leave you wanting more. Do yourself, your friends, and... We drove 5 hours to ride this train November 4, 2016. We had hoped to see the beautiful Fall colors BUT.....everything was still green. That's Mother Nature's fault, not the railroads. It was a fun comfortable train ride. Ordered beer - they told us there were 2 choices (nothing I had ever heard of) but delivered only one kind....they were... More

We booked 4 tickets for the AC compartment of the train. After boarding the train, we had to wait 20 minutes, during which the cold AC beat down on us and made my whole family get sick. The train ride in October is not scenic at all, we just passed by a bunch of barren trees. The only good part... More

We have wanted to take this ride and got a discount deal online. The weather was perfect and we luckily opted for one of the two open cars. There is air conditioning in the more pricey cars and people were moving out of the non-air conditioned closed car. We were too early for much Fall color and it's not particularly... More
