My husband and I camped at Mustang Island State Park. There are electrical spots for RVs near the bath house. Usage is included with your $5 entry fee. We chose primitive camping on the beach with our tent. The protected sand dunes separate the beach from the RV sites. $10 a night for beach camping. You are allowed to build... More

This state park is known mostly for its expansive beach and not much else from what I could see. Fairly windy and any hazardous warnings are clearly marked.

I stayed here one night on my travels through Texas. The park itself is minimalist, which is fine. The welcome center has nice bathrooms and hot showers. The standout feature is the beach camping! There are no reserved 'sites', it's just a long beach. Stop wherever and make camp. Fires are allowed, too! Falling asleep listening to the waves crashing... More

The park has historically been a great destination. The beach a few hundred yards away on one side and bay in the other direction. You can RV here or camp on the beach. RVs require reservations. No alcohol. This is a great family friendly place. The striking improvement in maintenance and staff that is happy to host you is amazing.... More

While this is nothing fancy, the park is super-close to the Gulf, and is close to other area attractions, including plenty of restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. For campers, the area is not much more than a huge parking lot with 48 spaces, and everyone is pretty close, but our time there was quiet and relaxing, with the sound of the... More

Decided to take a day trip out to Mustang Island State Park to visit the beach. It was rather cloudy and windy when we arrived, but the water was warm enough for us, and even though no one else was swimming, we decided to wade in the water. I got stung by something, perhaps grazed by a jellyfish? within 30... More

Went on a walk with the Daughter, and it was cool to get out so far in to the marsh and see the animals, birds and other natural items. Would definitely return to explore the area more.

This is by far the nicest, cleanest Texas beach I have visited. We went over the Christmas holiday and there was hardly anyone there. We did not camp, just entered for day use. We spent a couple of hours walking with our dogs and playing fetch. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the area - well... More

We spent the last weekend tent camping at Mustang Island State Park. The camp area with water and electric are much closer together than other state parks that I have camped at which was odd because there was PLENTY of unused space where they could add more camp sites or spread them out a bit. The ranger at the gate... More

We went on the weekend and we were surprised by how few people were there. There was a big event in port Aransas which kept the crowds away. Definitely worth spending some time there.
