Beautiful man made limestone lake, great for fishing, boating or just picknicking. Has multiple parks and large dam you can walk over.

Canyon Lake is a jewel of lakes in the Texas Hill Country. Its waters are crystal clear and the level is controlled by the Corps of Engineers. Plenty of open space for sailors, boaters, and skiers. Beautiful blue skies above and surrounded by hills.

Trails to hike, views to see, damn to cross (.8miles one way). Fun to walk all the way across. We were close to the area closest to the Guadalupe River in Sattler. Dogs, kids, adults, older adults all were there to view this area. There are some rocky beach areas that we saw and heard there are other sandier beaches.

Canyon lake is about 15 miles north and west of New Braunfels. It's a nice recreational lake for fishing, boating and swimming. There are a number of restaurants and bars around the lake, for night time activities.

We were late in the season for the usual lake activities, but it is a beautiful setting and we used it as a base to visit San Antonio, Gruene, Wimberly, Fredericksburg, and Austin, Texas

This is a great lake for summer boating and fun. It is quite large and deep. I lived on it for 16 years.

It was way too long since I was here, and with Canyon Lake back to its normal level, I had to revisit an old friend. The drive to the lake from New Braunfels along River Road is spectacular. Hwy 306 may be faster, but it's no comparison. A walk along the top of the dam gives you the full scope... More

Spent a recent Saturday and Sunday here and it was just beautiful. Fishing was enjoyable. The views, the atmosphere of being outside and by water was just so refreshing and invigorating. Walking along the shoreline was just as beautiful. It is a nice, restful, time.

Canyon Lake is a lovely spot to take a dunk during the hot summer days. The beach area by the dam is rocky and there is no shade. The water is refreshing but make sure you have plenty of sun protection once you are out of the water. If you have a boat, this is a nice lake to ski,... More
