The museum inside the Visitor's Center is great. It's free, and loaded with information about the city and area. You'll get a great idea of Nacogdoches history and pick up some fascinating tidbits, too. Head to the basement to see the exhibits down there and the fun video. If you're in town make sure you stop here.

If you make a trip to Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas, definitely make a point to visit the downtown Visitor Center. You'll browse really interesting exhibits, a video and lots of brochures for touring the town, country and east Texas region. Get a photo at the indoor Nacogdoches mural!

The gentleman who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a nice display of historical artifacts from the area which was interesting.

What a great visitor's center! We looked at all the displays, were given information by the gentleman on site, and picked up brochures to further guide us during our stay.

... to its great ratings. The exhibits give good background on the area's history without being so extensive as to become mind-numbing. There is always someone on duty to answer questions and make recommendations. This is the place to start for a first-time visitor.

We were on the road, getting into town later than we had planned. I knew we wouldn't make the visitor's center before it closed so I called. A very friendly young man answered the phone even though it was nearly their closing time. I told him we had wanted to see the cemetery and he said he would put a... More
