I stopped on a cross country drive and went on a weekday morning. It was only me, the dog and a couple from Texas there that morning. The whole visit took about 40 minutes, including the drive to and from the expressway with a leisurely...More

First off, read! There were other people walking around asking questions and making comments....and if they would just read, they would understand. This place is neat, and informative. It's a cool chunk of history, and a real quick thing to do, it's convenient.

Where else can you see the world's sixth largest meteor crater? Be aware that the depression is only about 6 feet deep now due to erosion, and past explorations have torn up the landscape a little bit. However, the trail and signage is quite informative....More

We had no idea this meteor hit was even here until the locals were telling us about it. They should have better advertising. We visited on a Monday and the Museum is closed that day, although we could walk around the area. Couldn't get to...More

We easily found this location, which is not far off the highway. However, if you're expecting really noticeable (as far as a crater), you may be disappointed. The actual crater is very overgrown with various plants/cactus and you'll have to look hard to see the...More

They have a small museum, which is free entrance, as i said small but very informative after leaving the place you will have the need to look for more craters around the country. The crater itself is kind of loosing due too natural facts as, dirt,...More

50,000 + years ago this would have been more impressive as the Texas wind has mostly filled in the crater over the years. They do have some good information here but it does not take long to read it all.

We went there out of curiosity and hopefully to have a short hike. It was a very very short hike but could be educational for kids. The crater was 50,000 years old and it's already filled up. Museum is also small but have some exhibits...More

As far as I know, the center is open from 1 to 5 on Sundays. However, Google Odessa meteor crater and it should give you the phone number for The Visitor Center to verify.
