Close place to get some nature walking in that isn't desert. Easy walkways. Noise from I-20 is somewhat distracting in certain areas. Just enough if your seeking to be outdoors and do some bird watching too!

The trails are clean, safe and secluded. This place is a little bit surreal. It is like going into another world. We enjoy getting away on every Saturday morning that we get a chance. They also have clean restrooms.

After living in Midland for 3 years a customer of mine told me about this place. I decided to take a look on a Friday afternoon and was quite impressed. I can't wait to visit in the Spring when everything is green again.

On this super-windy day, we wanted to find a place in nature to walk. This preserve had trees most of the way around which helped block the impact of the wind. There were a number of blinds to view the birds without spooking them off and we were able to watch and enjoy a number of species. I am really... More

Unexpected pleasure, a waterhole in West Texas. This is in an urban wildlife preserve around a Playa type water hole. Best for watching and learning about nature and its adaptability. A slow walk around the all-weather paths and decks will bring a lot of unexpected activity all year round. Pause at one of the bird blinds or the Hawk Tower... More

It's hard to find water and greenery in this desert climate. I love to come out here every chance I get. I also love how it's always changing. Everytime I have been out there i discover something else. My only complaint would be that there are not enough benches or shaded areas for quiet reflection. Also the noise from the... More

You will think you are in a national park somewhere. You need to visit and see for yourself. Saw eagles, ducks, many fish varieties and a good paved pathway.

Really not much to see here, grass land and a few birds in the air. Did not spend too much time here due to the wind.

There are very few green places in Midland. However, this refuge is filled with the changing color of trees & plants. The colors against the reflection of the water, the movement of water fowl, rabbits, birds, etc. bring one back to nature. There is a wonderful butterfly garden, as well. It's a place of peace and getting close to nature.... More

Very beautiful scenery, very well put together. Very enjoyable for toddlers as well which was a huge plus, will definitely be going back soon! Only thing it could use would be a vending machine.
