Nice and short walk through museum

Be prepared for a security check but then your free to browse. Half an hour max, but interesting enough. Because it is in the center of town, there was a pretty hefty parking fee and a battle to get through the traffic to find it, but we went to the Fire Brigade museum as well which is close. Dont go... It is free to walk through after a security check and check-in. Once you get through that there is a decent amount of neat things to look at. It goes through all the year's of the department and has a couple things on the walls and hanging from past times even a helicopter suspended from the ceiling

A small, but curious lil history of the life and times of the Houston Police Dept. There's sure to be at least one lil piece of interesting history that you may not have known, that was different about the H.P.D.!

We went to a day game at Minute Maid which ended around rush hour. The traffic was horrible and we decided to leave the car in the parking lot and walk around downtown until it cleared up. This was a good stop. If you are not in law enforcement or a law enforcement fan it would be a waste of... More

It's a piece of Houston history that can only be seen by going to this museum. I enjoyed seeing the chronology and evolution of the Houston police department. Interesting artifacts and photos, displayed simply but nicely. I liked seeing how women and blacks were first introduced to the department. Enlightening to see Edward Thomas' story, the longest serving police officer.... More

We took Master 9 and Miss 6 for a visit and it was an interesting 30 minute trip. It takes a little time to get in, you need to register and get a visitors pass as you are in the police station. But once in, there are some interesting things to look at showing a history of the Houston police.... More

While we were staying in Downtown Houston, we came upon this gem at the Houston Police headquarters. It is only open M-F, but the price was right (free). You do have to check-in at the front desk with an officer and receive a visitor badge. Some people may find that a little cumbersome, but it only took a couple of... More

We stopped by with about an hour to spend before the trip to the airport. It was right near a Starbucks so it made sense to check it out. It was very cool to see. They had a timeline of how the department has evolved. It was a nice way to spend 1/2 hour and the price was right ;)

This is an adorable place!!!! Essentially it's a couple of rooms inside a police station. You must take your ID with you and go through an aiport style security so try not to take too much with you. They then take your photo and give you a sticker ID. I really enjoyed this place and the policewomen and men there... More

I came here today (June 1st, 2015 Monday) at 7:45pm, one police officer told me they were closed at 5pm, I checked the open hours on Google, tripadvisor and the Houston government website, the open hours supposed to be from Monday-Friday 9am-9pm! I don't why he lied to me! Was that because I had a luggage with me and looked... More
