Views not to be missed

Fortunate with the weather, we had clear views across the sea and good chats with other travellers. We did not have time to venture from the main road.

Most people won't recognize that the huge mountain that they climb when leaving Ingonish is a provincial park. It is worth at least stopping at the lookout for the view back to Ingonish before heading on.

Stopped here just briefly to take in the views and take some photos. We did not do any kind of real hike.

Cape Smokey Provincial Park in Cape Breton Island offers grand views of the Atlantic the the coastal hills bedecked in flashing autumn foliage. We visited on October 14 and the timing was perfect as it was peak foliage. Take your picnic basket if it is a sunny day.

We stopped here for about 30 minutes while driving the Cabot Trail. There were picnic tables, restrooms and a beautiful view of the sea. One of many charming overlooks on the Cabot Trail!

Why take a walk to another waterfall or to the top of another mountain when you can enjoy a wonderful walk along the coastline to a lookout over the Keltic Lodge and Middle Head trail? This under-publicized park and trail are much better than many of the other so called hikes listed in the tourist information, which are really no... More

Compared to other parks, trails and views located on the Cabot Trail, as well as other locations in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, I found this park to be less than average. Rather than spending your time stopping & hiking here, I would go on around the Cabot Trail to the section between Skyline Trail and Cheticamp.

We stumbled upon this small park after climbing a steep road. We were looking for a place to stop and take photos. This was a good spot. There's also toilets if you need them. It's not much by itself. But the view!

This rugged trail runs for 5 km; it's more rocky than smooth, and in mid-May we encountered some wet sections. The first 40 minutes were through a pretty, wooded area, with the trail sloping downhill, then climbing the headland. Here the trail runs closer to the cliffs and there are good views and outlooks (the trail is set back far... More

A long, narrow, twisty, turny mountain drive.....kind of scary but the views from it are astounding! The scenery is second to none coming back down. Super scary drive in the winter!!
