I love and respect antique stores but it is nice when merchandise is on display for sale and not mounded up to the ceiling in junk piles for storage in areas you can't get to. It does have it's charm in comparison of perhaps rooting around in grandpa's old musty basement. A lot of industrial tools & records for sale.... More

How does part of that Kevin Folwer song go?, "beer, bait and ammo too...you might say they got it all." Ha-ha, well except for the beer, bait, and ammo, that isn't a lie. And you can get those things a short trip down the road. It's not a place that would be featured on Americans Pickers show but you never... More

Have read about this place in magazines for years. It lived up to its ambience but not to its merchandise. Packed full of stuff. Dusty. Be careful where you step.

This is your place. There's so much stuff in there that the owner has no idea of all his inventory. Great place for "pickers".

On a recent trip we stopped to check out the Emporium - interesting. Rows and rows of stuff piled high and deep. Very dusty - watch where you walk - not recommended for small children - they may get lost. Looked like items stacked from the 50's & 60's. Prices were a bit high - but had some collectibles. Very... This old two-story building is like a museum where everything is for sale, but it is an antique store. The prices are real good, and negotiable. There is a bit of everything...for example, if you want an antique hand-cranked meat grinder, there were about 20-25 of them on one shelf. The place is not fancy at all, and kind of... More

I've just got back from a road trip in Texas and we made an unscheduled stop at Gonzales. My wife had been looking for a store like the Emporium and she was not disappointed. To be honest, had it not been for our hungry 18 month old, we could have easily spent hours in there. To those who cry "dirty",... More

Very cluttered and dirty didn't mind this as much as being ripped off at check out. Be very careful as they don't add or use a calculator very well. No printed receipt so had a surprise when checking bank account to see a 10.00 dollar over charge.

Junk? I'm not sure what in the heck you people are talking about when you say this place is junk because I thought it was wonderful! Just simply delightful! I enjoyed poking around the place looking for that perfect treasure ...and I found it here! Yes, the place is dusty, cold in the winter (put on a scarf), probably hot... More

I know this is a crazy, whacked out establishment, but there just might be a treasure or two hiding behind all that dust, dirt and piled-high "collectibles", so don't be too quick to write this place off. I agree, I probably would last two seconds in there in the summertime, but I went in December, so the temperature wasn't an... More
