Kids could play for hours

This is simply a bunch of huge rocks on the river, but the kids could play here for hours climbing around the rocks. Great, free entertainment.

I stopped there while driving out of the historic district. It was a lot smaller than I expected, I doubt it is half a mile long. However, it's a nice place to stop and put your feet in the cold water on a hot day and enjoy the rocks. It's worth seeing if you are in the area.

We stayed at the Oakdale RV park and Big Rocks Park is across the street. (Busy street so be careful crossing.) Our boys had a blast. Large granite rocks just sticking out of the ground by a small creek. The kids can climb rocks then play in the water. We had a good time. If you have time, you can... More

Scramble over the rocks at Big Rocks Park -- free small parking lot adjacent, and then splash in the shallows of the Paluxy River right past the rocks. FUn for kids, photographers, nature lovers, dinosaur imaginers.

Will instantly make you feel like a kid again! Kick off your shoes and get your feet wet. Climbing the rocks is great fun also. Then run next door and get a snow cone on the way out.

This would be a dream for kids! My husband and I loved it. The water is beautiful and the rocks are awesome! A very photogenic spot.

Really cool place. Would be nice to take kids and go back in the summer when the water is warm. Not very much parking though. Bathrooms on site.

We ate lunch here on our way to the state park and ended up staying for an hour because we were having so much fun climbing on the rocks. Kids age 3-16, heavily supervise the 3 year old, but the older ones loved this and want to return.

I was driving through Glen Rose when I came across Big Rocks Park. I thought the giant rocks looked neat, so I had to stop. It was so much fun climbing the rocks. I also loved wading in the river. And it's free! This park was my favorite part of my little day trip.

Great little trip that's FREE. Climb giant boulders that don't seem to belong there; dinosaur tracks, walking trails, river walk and playing. Nice spot to bring a lunch and enjoy nature and loved one as well.
