This is free and a great little ride. You may feed the seagulls and often watch dolphins play. Crossing over is Crystal Beach which is nice because you can drive and park right on the beach--go check it out!

Take a short cruise on the ferry. It's relaxing. Get to the other side and then come back. It does get a bit crowded on the weekends so beware. It's worth it. It's offered by the Department of public safety and transportation.

This ferry is public transportation provided by the state of Texas. It is very well managed to get your car on and off and holds many vehicles of all kinds. Once on the ferry you can go upstairs for bathrooms and viewing areas or simply watch the trip from the vehicle level. It allows a great view of Galveston Harbor... More

We haven't been on the ferry before but will be sure to take it on our way back home in Louisiana. There were great views of the gulf with all the freighters waiting to get into port. Fed the sea gulls. What fun!

If you're planning a visit to Galveston, definitively take the time to ride the Ferry. Easy access, scenic and free... what's not to like.

We alway ride the Ferry with the kids, looking for Dolphin and enjoying the breeze! Easy access with Cars, or walk on just to ride and take the trip both ways!

Free ferry ride to Bolivar peninsula from Galveston. A short ride, maybe 5 -10 minute ride. Ferry seems to run often, no waiting. My husband found it exciting to see all the container ships. This is all part of the experience of visiting the ocean, islands, seeing houses on stilts was novel, till we later realized that is all the... More

Texas department of transportation has the best free must do on Galveston. The ferry ride from Galveston to The bolivar peninsula is a the best free attraction I have ever experienced. Park your car and walk on or drive on and get out and enjoy the views. You can walk around the deck or take the stairs up to the... More

We boarded the ferry as the last vehicle, so we had a perfect view from the back. We were stunned by the number of seagulls following us! It was great fun & a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Thanks!
