The Great Storm video presentation is a great oral history of the early days of Galveston and the Great Storm. The first hand accounts are supported by a well produced video collection of pictures, drawings, and documents which reinforce the intensity of the storm and the ultimate devastation of the storm. It is a great story that demonstrates what a... More

We went to see The Great Storm movie...but it wasn't a movie, merely a collection of drawings, photos, and narratives from the storm. While we learned something new, like what happened to the bodies, we were disappointed with the presentation given for the admission charged.

If you are a History nut like me do not miss this one! The Great Storm is only about 30 minutes, it tells the tale of the most deadly natural disaster in US history. It hit Galveston Island 8 September 1900. The exact number of dead will never be known but estimates between 8 &10K are common. The storm came... More

I'm from Galveston County, and have turned a lot of folks onto Galveston Island. For those who have 30 minutes to watch this VERY informative show, I almost always make sure it's on the itinerary. I've probably seen it at least 20 times now, and it never gets old. I'm always amazed at how the seawall came into being and... More

Film regarding history of Galveston. Anyone visiting the City should see, makes one appreciate the historic buildings, including the homes, and along with Strand. Add bonus, was the film on Pirates history of the area that most have forgotten about.

There are three films shown at the theater on the second floor theater. we stopped in to catch The Great Storm film after our cruise. Each film is roughy 30 minutes. Admission is $6 per film. Film was informative but expected more photos . My big peeve is the showtimes are NOT posted outside ?!?!?!?!? They do have a nice... More

The movie about the 1900 hurricane that destroyed Galveston is full of history. I learned a lot about the event and clean up. I would not call this a movie. It was more of a slide show of old photos taken during and after the disaster. I don't think it was worth $6 admission charge. I suggest a redo of... More

I had a little problem finding where I could see/hear about The Great Storm. The historical museum, which featured the storm, was damaged during Hurricane Ike, so it took several calls to find the right place. There is no memorabilia, only the film and a gift shop with some books to purchase. The film was excellent. I was somewhat amazed... More

I went at four different times to try to see this theater and it wasn't open during the stated business times. I was really disappointed. There was a small gift shop that I wanted to look in, that had lots of books about the hurricane. I would have bought some stuff if they would have been open.
