Went to the strand area after visiting the seafood market at the docks. (Very Close). The streets and walks are under construction and very difficult to get around. Some steps are over 15" to get to the shops and old uneven skids are in place...More
It was a very cold Saturday on our last visit, but there are plenty of stores to explore, and they all were warm and cozy. Lots to see and do. When they complete the construction, it will really be a nice place to experience.
The strand area is a great place to find food. There are numerous places to eat. There are some shops to walk through and some historic buildings to explore. We stayed near the beach so it was a 5 min drive to the strand.
We walked the Strand, just after we concluded our visit to the nearby Ocean Star oil platform museum. It was getting dark, and the historic area just got lively with many bars and restaurants getting busy.

The Strand is an area of Galveston that is near the cruise ships. It has many shops, bars and restaurants. It was a good place to stroll around. We found a vintage ice cream store named La Kings. The Strand is a must visit.
