Strolling the Strand

Spent the afternoon strolling the Strand with my wife. She enjoyed the shops and there were plenty of benches for me to sit and people watch. Beautiful historic downtown.

The atmosphere on the street is so relaxing. We sat for hours throughout the weekend, enjoying the weather, visiting with other tourists, eating and drinking. It's impressive how the city is revitalizing the downtown area.

Stopped in on Saturday night, was a good scene with a lot of life. The drinks were reasonable and the patio area was good to step outside.

Your typical historic buildings and typical tourist shops. Did enjoy ice cream at La Kings Confectionary. Purchased some dark chocolate/raspberry cream candy, very good. Might get free taffy if they are packing the taffy when you are here. They throw the pieces of taffy as they come out of the wrapping machine. Parking is at a premium, but just go... More

About a mile long stretch of all kinds of shops. Pop in and get an Olde Tyme Photo, touristy shops with the usual tourist stuff, a few specialty shops with unique, mostly nautical themes, lots of places for snacks , treats, restaurants. Most maybe all shops in historical 1800 architectural buildings some in better shape than others. Tip: parking fees... More

My husband and I stayed at the Tremont and frequented the strand every day and evening. Lots of shopping, food, and bars. Very fun! Planning a trip back this July.

Several restaurants, bars, and retail stores. Most of the stores trend towards touristy items : t-shirts, mugs and trinkets.

This lies among great storefronts and eateries. Tip: parking is availoable at street corner kiosk. Cost is $1.50 per hour, payable by cash or credit card. Another tip, please know your space number and car tag number. (letters and numbers)

What a blast! Beads thrown everywhere. Live music...beer and hurricanes...laughter and smiles. Am I sure I didn't end up in New Orleans instead?
