We were hoping to have lunch or dinner but the options were minimal. If you want to just shop it’s a great place to walk around.

The Strand is a street stretching about 6 blocks in downtown Galveston. There are many shops, eateries, bars, etc. You can buy a beer in this area and legally walk around it.

There's a nice visitor center across from the Rosenberg Library. They can tell you all you need to know.

Ditto...didn't see any golf cart tours, just the horse and carriage tour. Not sure the price on that, but it looked like there was a sign on one of the corners.
