Iconic reconstructed church/town hall reinforces the Germany roots of the area.

When constructed in the 1800's, this building was the town center of activities. Well done displays gives a quick overview of the German roots of the area.

The Marktplatz is a happening place. Starting in May the farmer's market returns, in October the Octoberfest Hall opens, but always there is this replica of the original 1848 first church. Pretty interesting and they explain a lot about the original town.

My mom and I stopped in as we arrived in town and it was a great way to put the history of town in perspective. Lots of informative displays depicting the original settlers and how they lived. Don't miss this amid all of the shopping and German food. And the docent suggested a great lunch place (Old German Bakery) that... More

This building is a replica built in 1934 (the original was torn down in the late 1890s), but the VK was the original church, school and fort for the heart 120+ souls that founded Fredericksburg in 1846.

Conveniently located in the center of the MarktPlatz - Fredericksburg's Town Square - The "VK" as it's known locally is a replica of the original building constructed by the original German settlers of Fredericksburg to serve as a Town Hall, meeting place, and shared church. In a very small area it offers a concise history of the community. Best thing... More

We loved visiting this museum the last time we were in Fredericksburg. It has a lot of the local history of the founding of the town.

We walked around the perimeter after closing time. You can tell the town loves its history. We learned the meaning of "Vereins."

This is a small, historical site in the downtown area. For history, culture enthusiasts, it may be of interest. This is the type of place you mosey through after lunch, not really a main attraction. It is conveniently located to the main tourist area so easy access for a little break.
