We fell in love with this place. My son made a piece of pottery. The gift store has so many things you will never see anywhere else, like handmade brooms. The guy doing the Gristmill tour was so nice. Everyone was and they just radiate joy. We are coming back at Easter and bringing more family. Eat at the café.... More

The grounds are nice to walk around. We did view people working their craft. They were friendly and answered questions we asked. The work spaces are also shops. I would say the emphasis is more for shopping than showing craftsmanship. Courses are mentioned in each store but those need to be scheduled. While doing online research for activities at Homestead... More

We visited Homestead Heritage as part of a visit to Waco. It was a beautiful setting with many interesting buildings on a self-sustaining farm. Lunch at their cafe was very good. I had somewhat of an uncomfortable feeling while we were there; something didn't seem right to me. I was also intrigued by the clothing worn by the employees and... More

Interesting and delightful venue located just outside of Waco, Texas. If you want to step back in time and see true handcraftsmanship from beekeeping to furniture and pottery making to horse farming to weaving and spinning and cheese making, then this place is the place to go. An added plus is the Café Homestead, which offers a wonderful variety of... More

This was a very pleasant surprise. The property is beautiful and it is a working farm with real craftsmen plying their trade. Each building has a different craft being worked and you can watch as they do it. Beautiful items such as baskets, pottery, and woven/knitted accessories are sold inside each building or in the centrally located gift shop. This... More

On a rainy winter day my family made the trip a couple of hours south to see this place, I am sure there are better days, but it was still very interesting to step outside the usual to see a different persepective on life. It really is a beautiful place, there are lots of things to shop for, the prices... More

We loved everything about this place! The local cafe. The friendliness and hospitality of the people. The chance to see another lifestyle. The educational aspect of each building. The combination of being outside coupled with great walkways and picturesque photo opportunities. I bought wonderful flours, granolas and cheeses. My teenagers loved it the best of all we did on our... More

We stopped on a Monday on our way to Fort Worth and it was kind of dead. Definitely the kind of place to make as a lunch destination I'm guessing Thursday - Saturday for the most activity. Or when they have some type of special event. Would have enjoyed the restaurant I'm sure but had already had lunch.

My husband and I visited this place in late May 2016 and were not disappointed. It was very interesting to see all the items made from scratch and see the history behind the place. The restaurant was amazing. Give yourself plenty of time to walk the grounds and visit each area.
