Just ok wines

We enjoyed the prosecco from Italy but several of the wines tasted a little strange. Don't think we'll be back.

You will pay $15 for a tasting but we had the added pleasure of tasting Solaro's Barbera which comes in at a rather whopping $169/bottle at the time of this review. It's a tough grape to grow in this region, thus the rather outlandish price but not really worth it from a consumer point of view. Solaro's Montepulciano Estate offering... More

On a sunny spring afternoon we found this estate winery a little out of town. There is a great outdoor patio with a nice view of some vineyards. The wine server knew her product well and we enjoyed several Italian wines both white and red. Will definitely visit here again when we have more time. One improvement to mention would... More

Wines seem a bit overpriced. Tasting room is nice. Restrooms are outside. They do have nice vines.Outdoor area is relaxing as well. We tasted a wine that was said to have a vinegar taste and boy did it. It actually tasted like bad wine but the server said it was supposed to taste that way. You might want to ask... More

Robert Hugh Fritz III founded the Solaro Estate in Dripping Springs on the same property his family bought in 1909 of which he is now a co-owner. One hundred years later Solaro Estate Winery produced its first vintage and today grows the Montepulciano and Barbera varietals on the winery's eight acres and sources grapes from other parts of Texas to... We loved the antipasto plate and sharing a bottle in their patio. The Italian wine we had was wonderful. The staff were excellent. Dog friendly. Once we got here, we stopped vineyard hopping and truly relaxed.

We pulled into Solaro on a whim while we were in the area popping in to other breweries and wineries. $15 for a tasting, which gets you very teeny tiny pours of 5 varieties. The wine was OK, nothing really grabbed us and made us want to buy a full glass or a bottle. The setting is pretty enough, but... More

Dripping Springs has some terrific pizza, pastrami, and Tex Mex lunch spots. We did a post lunch tasting at Solaro. There was a wedding party outside and a group doing a tasting with food accompaniment inside. Nonetheless, Olivia was attentive and informative. It was a leisurely tasting We tasted five wines for $15. At least three of the wines were... More

We stopped in a couple wineries one Sunday and tried wines and or olives. We had heard a lot about Solaro and were glad we found it. We enjoyed the wines we tasted but were a bit disappointed that the only way we could taste the other wines on their list was to become a wine club member. We did... More
