I am a big fan of residential architecture and of nice manicured neighborhoods with awesome curb appeal. I like going through this part of town, but maybe I am just visiting at the wrong times of day? I never see a lot of people walking around or actively enjoying this cool neighborhood.

The Swiss Avenue Historical District comprises about a 1 mile stretch of Swiss Avenue. Swiss Avenue itself is twice that length so if you go, make sure you find the right part. The historical district is unmistakable in that in has very large old restored homes on both sides of the street, which is itself a beautiful tree-lined boulevard. Several... More

A bubble of history with amazing estates right in the middle of Dallas - nestled between downtown and White Rock Lake. A must visit.

We love seeing this type of architecture; especially knowing the love and effort that this type of restoration requires. A wonderful area to walk along (or drive when it's too hot). Kudos to Dallas for saving some of its history and beauty.

this is a long street with numerous homes around 100 years old. lots are in incredible condition. this is what your home looked like if you were incredibly wealthy. went to an estate sale there, at a silent film stars home. they are sometimes open to public

The pride in the history of Dallas is apparent as you follow the shaded street of Swiss Avenue and enjoy imagining the lives of the founders of the city while viewing the lovely homes. However, Swiss Avenue homes were not always as lovely as they are now as there was a time when they were turned into tenement housing. It... More

Many parts of any city are well lighted with Christmas decorations but few are as well lit up as the Swiss Ave historic area. If you cruise the neighborhood just before dark and when all the lights are still off and you circle back around and come thru after dark you get two different pictures. All the beautiful large old... More

We met at the Preservation Dallas Home to tour it. We were informed about the neighborhood growth, downfall and renovation. All of the homes are rented (small fee) by local foundations. We weren't able to tour any of the other houses, but it was a pleasant two block walk.

If you're in downtown Dallas, Swiss Avenue is a short drive away. The houses and street in general are beautiful any time of year, but try to go during the day to avoid a lot of cars so you can wander slowly.

Always enjoy the drive through the Swiss Avenue Historic District. There is a really nice dog park and other parks nearby.
